So, where does the name “505 Imports” come from?
The owners of 505 have oddly had many interactions and connections with the numbers “505”. From cell phone and bank account numbers to the address of the original 505 location, the numbers “505” seem to continue to appear…including the opening date of our first store in May 2005 (5/05.) Because of the numerous encounters with these numbers, we, the owners, have decided to do everything in 5’s. Not only are we importing from 5 countries and creating furniture from 5 exotic hardwoods, but we also have developed 5 design concepts. And you can bet that there are more 5’s to come.
5 Countries: Indonesia,
India,
China,
Philippines, and
Mexico
The bohemian “design” spirit displays itself in vivid jewel-tone colors, ethnic designs, opulent pillows and tapestries, metal lanterns, quirky lamps and art, exotic fur throws, flamboyant fabrics (batik, embroidered, tie-dyed, metallic, appliquéd, sequined or jeweled) and ornately carved wooden accents.
Coastal Cottage lakeside, waterfront, seashore, nautical, beach house
To create a breezy, weathered, coastal look, add white distressed furniture, comfortable slip-covered sofas, and capiz shell lamps and wind chimes; natural objects from the sea such as coral, seashells, and beach glass complement the seaside look. Soft sea colors of pale green and turquoise are added to the mix to produce a breezy, warm, and relaxing coastal setting.
French Villa
quaint, country home, farmhouse, roost, hearth, manor, dwelling, abode, homestead, acreage, fireside, mansion, lodging
French Villa is a design concept that emerges from the country farm homes in France. It speaks of a simple, uncluttered home with tall, graceful furniture and charming furnishings: wire and wrought iron accents, botanical motifs, and earthy pottery designs that tell a story.
Reclaimed teak, natural wax finishes, and sustainable products (banana bark, bamboo, abaca, sea grass, water hyacinth) are staples in the nature-inspired designs. Earthen vases, leafy motifs, vetiver root runners, river rocks, and water features add a soothing ambiance to a home setting.
The rustic home is filled with exposed beams, natural or worn finishes, animal rugs, and old primitive wood. 505’s Rustic Redefined style is an eclectic mix of lodge, Mexican, and Spanish styles with elegant touches of silver candlesticks, horn accessories, burl wood serving ware, goat and cow hides, and Talavera pottery.
