505 Imports is the result of a mother and daughter’s global perspective and their passion for beautiful furnishings. The concept of opening an import furniture store in Lake Charles developed with the two women after years of delightful shopping experiences came to a dead halt. After relocating from a large city that embraced imported home furnishings to the more traditionally-minded city of Lake Charles, shopping frustrations quickly developed. The realization that the city of Lake Charles offered little in the import furniture market inspired a vision for a mother-daughter business, and a dream was born.
During the time from the beginning concept in January, 2005, to the first store opening in May, 2005, an amazing series of events fell into place. A beautiful site was secured, several lines of furniture from India and Indonesia were obtained, and exotic accessories were ordered. Rapid growth during the first year of business resulted in the opening of a second store in the Lake Charles area with several additional stores in the works in nearby states.
